I love my Treo 650… its the most solid phone that I have owned… I love the messaging chat log… but, there’s no 3G, no Wifi and with the new smartphones around – its getting too big. I’ve been using my Treo 650 for almost 2 years and I’m thinking of upgrading… the current line still does not have wifi, 3G… the next high-end Treo is rumored to be out by middle of this year – see this. Its also on windows platform… I hope it will come out in the Palm OS, its solid and will come out sooner.
January 19 – Considering Treo 680 as the next gen treo is still far away… Initial research suggests that battery life is the compromise for the Treo 680. Plus side is there is no antenna, its faster, bigger memory… Will programs that I use on the 650 run or on the 680?

Since the price of the 680 is reasonable… and my treo 650 is falling apart (I dropped it more than 20 times)… I just might get one. 1 more month to decide…

Where are you? I am in the U.S. and have Verizon service. They sell the Treo 700P (Palm OS) for $399 on their web site. Pshaw. This girl does NOT pay retail. I think that’s ridiculous for a phone so I went on eBay and got a refurb for $170 plus S&H. I love it. I am used to the Palm OS because I’ve had three Sony CLIE PDAs. I still have my Clie TJ-37, but the Treo does just about everything my Clie did, including play MP3s and read ebooks. All my Palm applications that were in use on the Clie synced to and installed themselves on the Treo. Another little gadget you might want to investigate is Nokia’s 800 and 810 Internet Tablet.

I’m currently not in the US… unfortunately, just checked and 700p is not available for GSM…
I have a 2nd phone – Nokia N95, its not as robust as the Treo… It’s a do it all gadget and I love the GPS and 5MP auto focus camera! But, it freezes sometimes, and the only way i can get it to work again is to remove the battery for more than 3 hours (I don’t know how long exactly)…
I seldom pay retail as well… one of the best deal hunter around… but it does take a lot of time effort deal hunting… would be nice if there’s a site like rentacoder… maybe rentahunter for helping you find great deals? Specially for specialized items at work that I need…
